AFC Telford Vs Kidderminster Harriers

Match Date : September 13th, 2025 3:00 pm
Competition : FA Cup
Ground : New Bucks Head
Kick Off : 15:00

Kevin Wilkin’s men turn their attention to the FA Cup this weekend, as they welcome Kidderminster Harriers to the SEAH Stadium in the Second Qualifying Round.

Harriers have long been one of non-league’s most recognisable names, famous for their 1994 FA Cup run to the Fifth Round and more recently, their 2021/22 cup run – which saw them defeat Reading and push Premier League side West Ham to extra-time in the Fourth Round.

Kiddy narrowly missed out on the last year’s National League North title, losing 2-1 at Southport on the final day when three points would have them seen them claim the crown. Harriers went on to lose the playoff semi final to Chester, which saw manager Phil Brown relieved of his duties.

The new man in the Kidderminster dugout is former Mansfield and Fylde boss Adam Murray. Murray arrives at Aggborough following a successful 18 months at Eastbourne Borough, who he transformed from relegation candidates to title challenges in his short stint at Priory Lane. And the new manager quickly set about rebuilding his squad in the wake of a number of high profile departures.

Harriers lost several key players in the summer, including centre backs Kyle Morrison (Brackley) and Reiss McNally (Hartlepool), midfielder Zak Brown (Brackley) and 33-goal top scorer Ashley Hemmings (Dag & Red). To fill the gaps, Murray brought three of his Eastbourne players with him, namely defenders Pierce Bird and Kai Innocent and midfielder Jack Clarke, with young right back George Walker being picked up from Hastings United. Other notable arrivals include the returning Jordan Tunnicliffe (Solihull), energetic midfielder Luke Spokes (Chippenham), and striker Kurt Willoughby (Oldham). Former Buck Amari Morgan-Smith continues to captain the side.

Murray’s new look team have made a decent enough start to the campaign, picking up 15 points from their eight games so far. However, Harriers have yet to really take flight – each of Kiddy’s wins this season have been by a single goal, and, given that Murray’s side are expected to challenge this campaign, they will likely be slightly frustrated with draws with Worksop, Oxford City and Macclesfield.

The Bucks will be hoping to end their barren run in the competition, having won only two out of their last nine outings in the Cup. Rob Edwards was in the dugout the last time the Bucks made it further than the qualifying rounds, in fact, when they were knocked out by Hereford in the First Round. Last year, Wilkin’s men went down 2-1 at Gainsborough Trinity in the First Qualifying Round, while Kiddy were knocked out by Guiseley in the Fourth Qualifying Round.

As AFC Telford, the Bucks have won just three out of 18 games against Harriers, with Kiddy winning 10. However, the record in Shropshire is much more balanced, with the Bucks winning three, drawing two and losing four of the games played on home soil.

The SEAH Stadium should provide a lively backdrop as the two Midlands rivals lock horns once more. For the Bucks, it is not only an opportunity to progress in the competition, but also to build momentum gained from recent promising performances.
